    The Cambridge Biomedical Campus is nationally renowned as a centre of excellence in terms of both medical research and treatment. As a result funding is forthcoming; the research organisations on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus receive over £200 million in financial support from national government agencies and charities every year. Hospitals provide over £400 million of healthcare services, primarily to the NHS.

    UK pharmaceutical companies benefit from the work of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry, the devoted trade association proactively looking after industry-wide interests.

    The East of England has a strong network of support for businesses and research projects.  The East of England International (EEI) - the regional arm of the government’s UK Trade & Investment department -  encourages business development and inward investment by foreign countries. The EEI concentrates on particularly promising sectors such as biotechnology, healthcare and medical devices due to their recognised strength and capacity for growth. The EEI provides confidential advice to overseas owned companies setting up or expanding in the UK.

    The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) ensures an innovative and supportive business base within the region. The Agency provides support to businesses and actively encourages scientific and commercial expansion. EEDA has a range of grants available for eligible organisations involved in innovation and research and development.
